The Dieting Trap
DIETS DON'T WORK!!!!!
With the New Year here, I wanted to discuss the typical dieting saque that we all go through. I’ve been doing it all my life, plan after plan, idea after idea. I have come to the realization that the reason it gives us such anxiety is that dieting doesn’t work. Let’s say it together DIETING DOES NOT WORK. Almost all diets out there work in the short term, I know I’ve done them. We’ve seen these Fad & crash diets that have been around for years. Remember that old saying “If it sounds too good it probably is”. These type of diets is just that. We stress ourselves out over points, calories, leaving foods out, the expense of premade food programs to end up learning nothing. If a program or plan doesn’t teach you anything what good is it?
Life is stressful enough, eating shouldn’t be. It was stressful having to calculate points each day, weighing, over planning but when you get to focus on simple clean foods like nuts, beans, spices etc. you’ll enjoy cooking more. Cooking healthy isn’t expensive, well let me say it doesn’t have to be. It all depends on your preferences. We tend to eat very simple during the week and use the weekend to go all out & try new things. When we started to eat several vegetables with lean protein for most meals, we noticed we weren’t as hungry so we ate less. This means buying less by filling up on clean healthy foods. When you make your own meals you know what you’re putting into them. It doesn’t mean making homemade spaghetti sauce, its’ great when you can. I make a big batch and freeze for later. I made lasagna using zucchini as the noodles, my husband even liked it. It means looking at what your buying for your premade spaghetti sauce and such (sugar & other ingredients). This is my passion these days & really want to show that eating right isn’t as time consuming as you believe it to be nor as expensive. Look for some interesting recipes & other ideas that will hopefully inspire you to move towards clean eating.
We just made this Tuscan Bean soup I found. The only change we made was adding a bit more of spices & 2 tsp of beef base. We stay away from bread so we didn’t include that part. Here is where you can find it: http://www.saveur.com/article/Recipes/Tuscan-Bean-Soup Enjoy during the winter season. Clean eating with all its goodness. Homemade soups are inexpensive & healthy when loaded with veges.
